FLAKE FLOORING, GIVE OLD CONCRETE NEW LIFE!
Installing an epoxy flake floor can radically transform the look of your floor. It involves the application of epoxy paints, and broadcasting vinyl chips to create a highly decorative finish. The process consists of a number of steps:
The concrete must first be prepared correctly to ensure proper penetration and bonding of the epoxy paints. This step is absolutely crucial and cannot be short-cut, or the quality and longevity of the finished floor may be seriously compromised .
2. Applying primer/sealer coat
A two pack, epoxy primer/sealer is applied that ensures an effective bond with the concrete is achieved.
3. Applying Epoxy Coat
A coat of two pack tinted epoxy paint is then applied on top of the primer coat. The two products bond together.
4. Flake broadcasting
Coloured flakes are broadcast onto the epoxy layer to create the decorative flake effect
5. Polyurethane clear top coat
Two coats of a clear, two pack polyurethane paint are applied to give a high gloss, hard wearing, scratch resistant finish.
BENEFITS OF A FLAKE FLOOR
A flake floor is a very cost effective way of rejuvenating an old, stained, tired, chipped concrete floor. It not only creates a fantastic decorative look with a high gloss finish, but also covers over all those ugly stains, marks and chips. When installed properly, it will create a very hard wearing, scratch resistant, seamless (no joints),easily cleanable surface, that is chemical resistant, impervious to stains, and will last for many years to come.
